Evil Presidentes - Endtroducing... The Ramp Xmas Show (Dec 2013)

For the third installment of my Ramp Shows, I decided to do something very different... 

What you have in front of you is an old fashioned, tipsy, Christmas mixtape. Inspired by 1960's and driven by Dean Martin, the real king of Christmas. Allow yourself go back to an era when life seemed simpler, less globalised and capitalised. 

For this mix to go down properly, to precisely taste what I'm trying to say here, I've added a secret ingredient to help compliment the next seventy five minutes...something hot to warm your soul this holiday season. This may be an unorthodox step to take but "Oh my gosh my golly, it's time for Gluhwein and Knusperhauschen biscuits"! 

My secret Christmas Gluhwein recipe goes as follows: 

1 bottle of wine, 500ml apple juice, 1 can of pear cider, 50g sugar, 1 cinnamon stick snapped in half, 4 cloves, 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ground all spice, couple of splashes of Cointreau. Just bring to the boil slowly, take 25-30mins to cook through. Repeat the stated dose.

Welcome to my Ramp Show Volume Two (November 2013)... The essence of this mix is 'The Blues' 

BB King once said that "The Blues are a feeling or an attitude that anyone can experience if they are simply open to it". It's also been said that only those with intellectual intelligence can actually feel the blues, others simply feel angry, sad or miserable. A paradoxical mystery sugar-coated in something bittersweet, musically and emotionally.

Yes maybe it can trace its roots (as can hip-hop, soul or jazz) back to widespread exploitation and poverty but that's not the issue here. This is a take, a stab, an attempt, a 30 yard pile driver, an experiment, a journey: (an 80 minute mix) aimed at delving deep into blues music in its many different interlocking forms. From Alison Moyet singing 80's electro to Elvis lamenting the loss of another lover, I've tried to put together a selection of tunes that capture the sweetspot of blues music.  

And.....I've just put a little hot sauce on it....

Hello and bienvenue to my debut on the Ramp Show.

I'm both delighted and flattered to have been asked to provide a monthly mix (on last Thursday of every month) for Lebrosks Ramp Shows Blog. It's a musical honour to be rubbing shoulders with the likes of highly talented performers such as: Dan Wilde, DJ Daigo, Rory Hoy, Zenit Incompatible, Johnny Pluse, Janette Slack, Meeloox, AJ Manns, Telephunken, Rhino Soundsystem, Audio Infunktion, VRT, Funky Mosquito, Sychosis, EZ Icarus, Lebrosk & DJ Kimble....We all have different styles and skills but at the end of the day, it's only about the music...

Music is what feelings about life sound like.
Music is an outburst from the soul.

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.

If I were to begin life again, I would devote it to music; it is the only cheap and unpunished rapture left upon earth (except in Russia. Nadezhda Tolokonnikova we root for you!)......Music is the medicine of the mind, the shorthand of emotion, the moonlight in the gloomy night of life......
